BIO
Natalya Nyn is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist of Russian and Ukrainian heritage whose work explores mindfulness, the interplay between technology and nature, and the resilience and sustainability of the earth and body. Through eco-feminine sculptural forms in papier-mâché, painting, textiles and biomaterials, she creates tactile, immersive experiences that invite a more vivid connection to the natural world and the human body.
Nyn’s cultural productions, including the Knockouts Women’s Comedy Festival and the Women Funny? web series, use humor to elevate women’s voices and spark meaningful dialogue about the gendered experience in society. Her work's intention is to find moments of happiness and bring more joy & connection to the world.
She holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology and has exhibited with The Garment District Alliance, The MIT Museum, Eleventh Hour Art Gallery and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She has received NYFA’s Made in NY Women’s Fund and the Luminary Fellowship. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue Italia, Glamour Germany, and on HBO’s GIRLS and High Maintenance.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Following a turbulent immigration process from Russia and years of health challenges induced by the stress of working in the fashion industry, I found myself without a purpose and deeply burnt out. I stepped away from fashion and began to reclaim my health through meditation, time in nature and recounting memories of my time with my grandparents spent in small villages of Siberia and Ukraine.
This renewal became the foundation of my artistic practice. Working with papier-mâché, paint and biomaterials, I create tactile, three-dimensional works that invite viewers to experience nature more vividly and intimately.
My work is rooted in healing and serves as an invitation to reconnect with the earth and the quiet, mysterious beauty that surrounds us—a reflection of my inner transformation.
